Description

Over the years I had seen this chapel many times without ever having paid much attention to it.  On this particular day, I was passing late in the afternoon and noticed how the winter sun had lit up the front of the chapel while the rest of the immediate surroundings were in shadow.  I knew that if I exposed the area of white correctly the remainder of the image would be under-exposed, thereby creating a very powerful angular white shape in the landscape.  The arching tree provided the perfect framing device and the composition is enhanced by the distant rocky outcrop of Garn Fechan illuminated by the sun.
